We think its fitting to have Ashleigh and Brad’s wedding as the first to debut on our newly redesigned blog because a very unique thing happened for our lead photographer, Andrew Harnik on this wedding day. He met another family with the last name – Harnik. That has never happened before. Ever! Okay, so maybe its spelled just a little bit differently but needless to say it was very surreal for him that night on the dance floor when the entire wedding surrounded the mother of the bride and chanted, “Har-NIK! Har-NIK!” As she danced and laughed.
Beyond the similar name, both of these families are filled with wonderful people (and beautiful dogs). It’s no wonder that Ashleigh and Brad were a perfect match – they are two very relaxed happy people and their wedding felt the same way from beginning to end. The entire day took place in downtown Old Town Alexandria within a 2 block vicinity! Everyone began their day getting ready at Hotel Monaco and made their way to the ceremony at St. Mary Catholic Church down beautiful streets of historic homes and changing leaves on a brisk, sunny fall afternoon.
The wedding party moved to Colombia Firehouse which is centrally located in the city and a perfect venue for a small to medium sized wedding. Be sure to check out Ashleigh’s big ol’ knife that her brother gave to her as a present (She’s a Marine!) that they used to cut their cake. A big thanks to Stacia Heye with the Firehouse! When everything (and everyone) looks beautiful and the evening goes smoothly it makes our job easy!
